terms & conditions

Effective Date: Oct 6, 2026

Welcome to lucymft.com (the “Website”), operated by Lucy Zhang, LMFT (“I,” “me,” or “my”). By accessing or using this Website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

01. website purpose

This Website provides general information about my practice, psychotherapy-related topics, available services, professional background, resources, and other professional activities. It is not a substitute for individualized mental-health care, diagnosis, treatment, crisis intervention, medical advice, legal advice, or other professional advice. Viewing this Website, reading its content, subscribing to communications, submitting an inquiry, scheduling a consultation, sending an email or text, leaving a voicemail, commenting on social media, or otherwise interacting with public-facing materials does not establish a therapist-client relationship. A therapist-client relationship begins only after we mutually agree to work together and required intake, informed-consent, service, and practice documents are completed.

From time to time, this Website may describe consulting, advisory, educational, professional-development, strategic, or other non-psychotherapy services. Website descriptions or inquiries do not create a consulting, supervisory, employment, agency, or other professional relationship. Any such engagement is governed by a separate written agreement when applicable.

02. service availability

I provide telehealth psychotherapy only to adults who are physically located in California or Oregon at the time services are provided, subject to clinical appropriateness, licensure requirements, and completion of the intake process. Access to this Website does not mean that psychotherapy services are available to every visitor.

03. no emergency services

This Website and ordinary communication channels are not monitored for emergency or crisis needs. If you are in immediate danger, believe you may harm yourself or another person, or need immediate help, call 911, go to the nearest emergency department, or call or text 988 in the United States. Do not rely on this Website, a contact form, email, text message, social-media message, comment, or voicemail for urgent assistance.

04. communications & records requests

Do not submit sensitive, urgent, or highly confidential information through a public Website form, social-media message, comment, ordinary email, or other non-secure method unless you have been specifically directed to use a secure method. Website communication is not a method for requesting, accessing, amending, restricting, or authorizing release of psychotherapy records or protected health information. Current and former clients should use the process stated in the applicable Notice of Privacy Practices or established client communication process. Website inquiries are not continuously monitored and may not receive an immediate response.

By submitting an inquiry, you authorize me to respond using the email address, telephone number, or other contact information you provide. For established psychotherapy clients, designated electronic communications are handled as part of the practice’s HIPAA-regulated workflow and are subject to the Notice of Privacy Practices and applicable practice policies. Electronic communications can still involve privacy or security risks and should not be used for emergencies.

05. comments, public submissions, & user content

The Website may allow visitors to submit comments, replies, feedback, reviews, or other material for public display or interaction (“User Content”). You are responsible for User Content you submit and for having the rights necessary to submit it. Do not use public Website features to submit confidential clinical information, protected health information, emergency or crisis communications, or material that unlawfully infringes another person’s intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or other rights.

Public Website comments and submissions are not confidential communications, are not psychotherapy or clinical records merely because they concern mental-health topics, and do not create a therapist-client or other professional relationship. You retain any ownership rights you otherwise have in your User Content. By voluntarily submitting User Content through a Website feature intended for public display, you grant me a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, and technically distribute that User Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, moderate, archive, and display the Website and the page, post, or discussion in which the submission appears.

I may moderate, decline, hide, remove, or close comments or other User Content when appropriate and am not obligated to publish, retain, monitor, or respond to any submission. Submitting a public comment, review, message, tag, or other content does not by itself grant permission for that content to be republished separately as a testimonial or endorsement in advertising or marketing. Any such use may be subject to separate permission, disclosure, privacy, or professional requirements. These Terms govern User Content submitted through this Website. Content posted through independent third-party platforms is also subject to the terms, privacy practices, and controls of those platforms.

06. intellectual property

Unless otherwise indicated, original Website content and materials are owned by or licensed to Lucy Zhang, LMFT or their respective owners and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, service-mark, and other intellectual-property laws. Protectable Website materials may include original text and articles; photographs; graphics; illustrations; infographics; diagrams; visual models and compositions; audiovisual materials; downloadable resources; handouts; worksheets; educational and clinical explanatory materials; resource guides; original selection, coordination, and arrangement of curated collections or compilations; and the original written or visual expression of concepts, frameworks, and models.

Copyright protection in eligible original material generally arises automatically when the work is created and fixed in a tangible medium of expression. A copyright notice, including the Website footer notice, provides notice of claimed ownership but does not by itself create copyright, establish federal registration, or claim ownership of third-party or legally unprotectable material. Unless otherwise indicated, the Website copyright notice applies to protectable original material owned by Lucy Zhang, LMFT throughout the Website. Some works may also be registered separately with the U.S. Copyright Office; absence of a separate registration notice does not waive ownership or other rights.

Names, logos, taglines, service names, framework names, and other source-identifying terms may be protected under trademark or service-mark law whether or not a registration symbol appears. Copyright protection does not extend to ideas, facts, systems, procedures, processes, methods of operation, or other material that applicable law leaves unprotected. Third-party content, software, platform elements, tools, photographs, fonts, trademarks, or other materials remain the property of their respective owners and may be used under license or other permission. Nothing on this Website grants any right in third-party material.

You may view Website materials and, where download functionality is provided or otherwise permitted, download materials for your personal, lawful, noncommercial use only. Except as otherwise permitted by applicable law or by specific terms accompanying particular material, no other license or permission is granted by access to this Website. Without prior written permission, you may not reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, license, sublicense, commercially exploit, systematically extract, scrape, harvest, mirror, frame, modify, adapt, create derivative works from, remove or alter copyright, trademark, attribution, ownership, or other proprietary notices from, or present substantial portions of protected Website content as your own or as part of another product, service, publication, training, course, database, repository, knowledge base, resource library, or commercial offering. Except as otherwise permitted by applicable law, you may not use automated or systematic means to collect, extract, copy, or reproduce substantial protected Website content for inclusion in a dataset, repository, knowledge base, or other system used to train, fine-tune, evaluate, develop, ground, or operate artificial-intelligence or machine-learning systems, or to develop competing or derivative commercial products, without prior written permission.

The restrictions above apply to the conduct described regardless of the particular technology, platform, system, or terminology used. Any examples in these Terms are illustrative only and do not narrow, prioritize, or limit the general rule. Ordinary browsing, accessibility technologies, and reasonable indexing by legitimate search engines are not prohibited. If particular Website materials, resources, products, or other content are accompanied by separate license, permission, or usage terms, those specific terms govern use of that material to the extent they differ from these general Terms.

Attribution, citation, linking to this Website, or identifying Lucy Zhang, LMFT as the creator does not, by itself, constitute permission to reproduce, republish, adapt, distribute, display, or otherwise use protected content. Requests to reproduce, republish, adapt, license, or otherwise use original content may be submitted to Lucy Zhang, LMFT. Any permission granted may be limited by purpose, scope, medium, duration, attribution requirements, modification restrictions, commercial or noncommercial use, licensing fees, or other stated conditions. Permission to use one work, image, photograph, diagram, resource, or other item does not constitute permission to use other Website content.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to restrict any use that applicable law expressly permits without authorization, including fair use where it applies. No failure to object to a particular use, and no prior permission for a different use, creates an implied license or waiver of any intellectual-property right. Nothing on this Website transfers ownership of any intellectual-property right. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. Where available under applicable law, I may seek injunctive/other equitable relief to prevent or stop actual/threatened infringement, or misuse of intellectual-property rights.

07. third-party services

This Website may link to third-party websites, platforms, scheduling tools, directories, social-media services, professional resources, or other services. I do not control and am not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices, policies, or terms. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that service’s own terms and privacy policies. A link does not necessarily constitute endorsement of every statement, product, or service offered by that third party. Third-party material may also appear through quotations, embedded content, interviews, guest or contributed material, public posts, professional resources, or other outside sources. Inclusion or reference does not mean that I independently verify, adopt, or endorse every statement made by a third party.

08. affiliate & referral links

From time to time, this Website or related content may include referral, affiliate, or promotional links. If you use one of these links or codes, I may receive a credit, commission, discount, service benefit, or other compensation at no additional cost to you. Any material connection will be disclosed clearly and conspicuously near the relevant recommendation, link, or code when required by law. Compensation does not change my responsibility to present endorsements or recommendations honestly.

09. no guarantees

Information about psychotherapy, trauma treatment, EMDR, nervous-system regulation, attachment, neurodivergence, or related subjects is educational. Individual circumstances, experiences, and outcomes vary. Nothing on this Website promises or guarantees a particular therapeutic, personal, professional, business, financial, marketing, operational, or other result. Any examples, estimates, forecasts, projections, benchmarks, or statements about potential results are illustrative only. Outcomes depend on factors outside my control, including decisions, implementation, resources, timing, market conditions, third-party platforms, and other variables.

10. website use, availability, & liability

You agree not to use this Website unlawfully, interfere with its security or operation, attempt unauthorized access, submit malicious code, impersonate another person, infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights, or use Website content in a misleading, fraudulent, or unlawful manner. Reasonable indexing by legitimate search engines is not prohibited.

I make reasonable efforts to keep Website information useful and current, but information may occasionally be incomplete, outdated, unavailable, or contain errors. I may update, modify, remove, or discontinue Website content or functionality at any time. Services, offerings, eligibility requirements, availability, features, descriptions, scheduling options, fees, and other Website information may change over time, and a Website listing does not guarantee that a particular service, resource, feature, or offering is currently available. No Website, electronic system, or transmission method can be guaranteed to operate continuously, without error, with complete security, or entirely free from harmful components or unauthorized interference.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, this Website and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I make no express or implied warranties regarding the Website’s accuracy, completeness, availability, security, reliability, error-free operation, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Lucy Zhang, LMFT will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or similar damages arising solely from use of, inability to use, or reliance on this Website or its general informational content. Nothing in these Terms limits any right or liability that cannot lawfully be waived, excluded, or limited.

These Terms apply to Website use only and do not replace, limit, or modify rights, obligations, disclosures, informed-consent materials, privacy notices, or written agreements that apply to an established psychotherapy, consulting, or other professional relationship. These Terms are governed by applicable federal law and, to the extent permitted by law, the laws of the State of California, without overriding mandatory laws or protections that apply based on a user’s location or the nature of a claim.

11. relationship among website documents & professional agreements

These Terms govern general use of the Website. The Privacy Policy, Notice of Privacy Practices, accessibility notices, and other Website or professional notices apply to the subjects they specifically address. Additional terms may apply to a particular Website feature, resource, booking, registration, purchase, subscription, license, educational offering, consulting or advisory engagement, psychotherapy service, or other offering. When more specific terms, disclosures, informed-consent documents, licenses, or written agreements apply to a particular subject or relationship, those more specific terms control that subject to the extent of any conflict with these general Website Terms.

Nothing in these Terms replaces, limits, or modifies rights, duties, confidentiality protections, informed-consent requirements, privacy obligations, or other provisions that arise under a separate agreement or law governing an established psychotherapy or other professional relationship. Any examples of possible features, services, transactions, resources, or relationships in these Terms are illustrative only. They do not imply that a particular offering currently exists and do not limit these Terms to the examples listed.

12. severability

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court or other authority of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law or severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. My failure or delay in enforcing any provision of these Terms in a particular instance does not waive my right to enforce that provision or any other provision later.

13. changes to these terms

I may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes in the Website, services, practices, or applicable requirements. The effective or last-updated date identifies the most recent revision. Continued use of the Website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.
